We celebrated Earth Day while raising much-needed funds to support our mission at our first-ever Paint Recycling Fundraiser.
On April 22, we partnered with the nonprofit Earth Paint to collect unwanted latex paint in exchange for a small donation. It was win-win-win recycling as we helped area residents get rid of those half-empty paint cans from their garages and basements, we kept all those cans out of the landfills, and the money raised helped to support Connect to Community services. Even better, Earth Paint gave all that old paint a new purpose by using it to create new paint that it will sell at its retail store in WoodDale.
Thank you to all the volunteers who helped make the event a success and to Roberta Sullivan of d’Vine Wine in Palatine for allowing us to stage the event in front of her store. And finally, thanks to all those who dropped off paint in support of the fundraiser. We raised over $2,000 (!) and hope to host additional events in the future.
