Many thanks to Northwest Special Recreation Association, especially Lauren (LJ) Jevaney, Manager of Collaborative Services for NWSRA, and Danielle Olson, Collaboratives Coordinator for Pursuit BG, for allowing us to tour the Pursuit site in Buffalo Grove and learn about all six Pursuit locations throughout the northwest suburbs. Pursuit, a collaboration between NWSRA and Clearbrook, is designed to meet the needs of individuals with disabilities ages 21+ by creating recreation and leisure opportunities, improving health and wellness, providing community integration, and teaching life skills and self-advocacy.
The Pursuit Buffalo Grove site is located within the Buffalo Grove Fitness Center and features a number of areas that the clients can access throughout the day including a computer lab, library, music area, fitness machines, and several places where they can just kick back and relax. We even got to meet the site’s two turtles, Bert and Ernie! Plans for a Snoezelen sensory room are also in the works.
