We traveled to Libertyville for our October 31st Informational Tour of Lambs Farm.
For two hours we toured the expansive grounds and learned about the extensive programming that Lambs Farm provides to overĀ 200 individuals, many of whom live on campus but also others who live in the community, either with their families or in one of seven Lambs Farm-operated CILA homes.
We toured one of their nine on-campus group homes, each if which accommodates 12 residents and includes staff support. We also visited the Stone Apartment Building which offers independent living in 16 one-bedroom apartments. There is also a 16-bed Intermediate Care Facility (ICF) on campus.
Along with the various campus housing options, we also had the opportunity to visit some of the Lambs Farm businesses where clients can work and thrive: Sugar Maple Country Store, Dogwood Garden & Pet Center, Cedar Chest Thrift Shop, and the Magnolia Cafe (where several of us enjoyed lunch after the tour). The nearby Lambs Industries sheltered workshop also employs 52 people and provides production, mailing and laundry services at competitive pricing.
Thank you to Marie Nelson for arranging and facilitating our tour, and to all the staff and Lambs Farm clients who we met along the way. We appreciated your hospitality.
