Thank you to Matt and JoAnne Koupal for hosting our November Informational Tour and sharing with us their vision to create a brand new CILA model, a Separate Living Arrangement, which will enable their son Luke and three roommates to live as independently as possible in the Koupal family home.
The Koupals, in partnership with the Ray Graham Association, have turned their four-bedroom Naperville home into a CILA, while at the same time building a 1200-sq. ft. addition to the back of the home where Matt and JoAnne plan to live well into their senior years.
The Koupals are the landlords and will serve as property managers of the home, but the CILA will be shift-staffed 24/7 by the Ray Graham Association who will provide programming designed to meet the roommates’ need and desire to lead full lives within the community.
During the tour, the Koupals discussed the various challenges and successes that they’ve encountered during the multi-year process to make this creative home a reality: zoning, construction, roommate identification, and licensing.
Congratulations to both the Koupals and Ray Graham for their innovative thinking and hard work!
