We traveled to Geneva for our March Informational Tour of the Marklund Hyde Center, which includes an Intermediate Care Facility (ICF) and Community Day Services. (CDS).
The ICF consists of six 16-bed homes for residents who are not independently mobile and are largely nonverbal. Each home provides for the intensive medical, social, emotional, and physical needs of the residents and features both single and double rooms, a central living area, and large kitchen. The Hyde Center campus also includes a heated therapy pool and a wheelchair-adapted baseball field.
The Community Day Services program accommodates both Hyde Center ICF residents as well as community members. Operating from 9:00-2:30 daily, CDS activites include communication development, physical & occupational therapy, speech & language therapy, music therapy, recreational therapy, community outings, and more.
Marklund also serves medically complex individuals at their Elgin and Bloomingdale locations and will be opening their Bridge Builder Community Day Services Program in Elgin later this year.
Many thanks to Natalie Kleba, Social Services Manager, for planning and facilitating our tour. For more information about Marklund, please visit their website at www.marklund.org.
