The Center for Enriched Living in Riverwoods was the site of our December Informational Tour.
The Center is a privately funded 501(c)(3) organization serving the social needs of people with developmental and intellectual disabilities. Their mission is to exist so that people with developmental disabilities can be fully included in the community, achieve personal success, and enjoy a good quality of life. The Center offers exciting enrichment and educational programs for people with varying levels of ability and provides opportunities so that members can acquire new skills for social inclusion and independent living.
The Center has been serving the Chicagoland area for more than 45 years, beginning in 1968, when two mothers approached a social worker at a local community center, asking for help in finding after-school programs for their children with developmental disabilities.
Thank you to Melissa Juarez-Ehlers, Ashley May, Jean Morrelli and Sierra Shum for helping to coordinate and facilitate this visit.
