Our April Informational Tours found us traveling to Schaumburg and Palatine to learn about the adult day service options offered by Little City.
We began our tour at the Countryside Center, home to the Life Skills program, which is designed to enhance self-advocacy, communication, and independence through an array of structured classes, experiential learning opportunities, and community integration.
We next traveled to the Little City main campus where we visited the Employment Development Services (EDS) program, the Center for the Arts, and the Horticulture program. EDS works with individuals seeking employment to develop the skills needed to reach their vocational goals and then supports those individuals once employment is found. The Center for the Arts cultivates each individual’s unique talent in various mediums such as drawing, painting, photography, and ceramics, while the Horticulture program allows participants to develop their gardening and landscaping skills while planting, and caring for both indoor and outdoor plants.
Many thanks to Shawna Pearson and Courtney Lucente for planning and facilitating our tours. The demand was so high for these tours that Little City kindly agreed to repeat the tour a second time so that more families could attend. We thank them for being so accommodating.
